GenCalico is a small family British Shorthair cattery.

We specialize in solid colors with white and Calico tricolor. Our colors can be blue, lilac, white, red, cinnamon, chocolate, black, and any combination of these colors, including lilac tabby, chocolate tabby, and pointed.

​​He came to our cattery in March from Royal Edelweiss cattery, Ukraine under the name of Darren. But from the first days, his character charmed and intrigued us. He seems cold, proud, and independent, looking down on us. It took some time for him to warm up and show us that he is a playful, smart, affectionate boy! That is why he is called “Mister Darcy” ​​

​​Our breeding plans changed this year, so we want to find a new home for Darcy. He didn’t participate in breeding. He is neutered.

Best-quality breeding British Shorthairs are available from our partner cattery, Royal Edelweiss, US, and worldwide delivery from Ukraine.

Royal Edelweiss is a well-known cattery, WCF (World Cat Federation) registered. They have worked with breeders for over 20 years. Most cats that come from the cattery have great show potential. Cats can be adopted as pets as well.

We usually have 2-3 litters a year and offer kittens starting from 12 weeks old. They are a big size, have good proportions, and are well-balanced kittens.

Kittens are registered at TICA, you can choose a name and we will update the records. Our kittens are vaccinated, litter box trained, and have a lot of interactions with people.

All kittens come with a requirement to alter. No breeding rights.* Ask us if you want to show the cat and have showing rights. We are always in touch and ready to advise on any issue related to the kittens.

About British shorthair breed

British Shorthair cats are balanced, affectionate, and calm. They are smart, and sociable animals with thick plush fur, bright expressive eyes, and a good-natured smile. They are constantly next to you but do not bother with their presence.  
  • The British Shorthairs get along well with children, patient and indulgent with children’s games. They will never scratch children, and they prefer to retreat rather than use their claws.
  • Both males and females make wonderful companions. The differences in personalities are mainly due to the fact that everyone has something unique. Males are about 1.5 times larger than females, but they are still excellent pets for apartments or houses, as they do not cause any harm.
Since the breed standard for both TICA and WCF was written for a male – males generally are more characteristic of the breed. Of course, size is not everything in this breed, and it is a combination of many different features that make a show cat. As breeders, we are constantly working on improving the breed. Breeding is a work in progress, and we are thrilled to call ourselves cat breeders.

Our Cats

All our cats live inside our home and are our beloved pets. They eat a well-balanced diet and have plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention.

We monitor the health of our pets and regularly conduct veterinary examinations, routine vaccinations, and tests for genetic and viral diseases.  

Certificates and Registrations

Our cattery is registered with TICA (The International Cat Association) and WCF (World Cat Federation). We are located on both coasts: Brooklyn, NY, and Seattle, WA. We founded our cattery based on European bloodlines from Ukraine, Netherlands, and France. Our cats’ ancestors include such European titles as World Champions, Grand International Champions, and Grand European Champions. Our GenCalico Daisy became the Best Chocolate Tortie/White in the USA in 2022
